Cassette Tape Leader, Ocean, and Ruled Paper Line

While sorting through her late grandfather’s archive - which includes forty years of his handwritten spiritual musings - Johnson considered what he hoped she'd discover through leaving the texts to her in his will. His notes describe the ocean’s horizon as a line marking what we can see and know, and what lies beyond. Cassette Tape Leader, Ocean Horizon, and Ruled Paper Line (2013) focuses on the margins of his ruled papers and cassette tape leaders, empty spaces before and after recorded content, creating a horizon of silences and gaps.
